It has been an insanely long time since I updated my diary and there is no way that I can talk about everything that has happened to me since March and even before that seeing as how I haven't even really mentioned my WEDDING (and our 1 year anniversary is one month away!). I will talk about my wedding at a later date (because I certainly can't do that in this entry) but I can talk a little bit about what's happened in my life recently.
This year has absolutely flown by. I can't believe that I've been married almost a year and finished almost an entire year of medical school! Less than 2 years to go!!!! (in med school not in my marriage :) I think I've now pretty much adjusted to living in Hamilton - even with it's crazy smog days and the humidity. My friends at school are really awesome and I've adjusted to working the insane hours of a medical student. I'm on my last weekend of school right now before my big exam on Monday (procrastination? what are you talking about?) and then off to La Ronge and then to Dublin. We're certainly in for a great summer and I'm really looking forward to it. It's so surreal right now - I really haven't even thought about the fact that I get to spend 5 weeks in Ireland because everything in my life seems to move so fast but it's going to be amazing and I'm really excited to meet the members of my family that I haven't met yet. After my first year I can most certainly say that I still love medicine and I'm so happy I decided to make this choice - this was certainly the right path for me.
Foreman is going to be working at the same school next year and he seems to be enjoying the work - far more than he did in Fort Mac. The commute kind of sucks but the job and the school is great. He coached soccer this spring and I think he really enjoyed that too so overall Ontario is shaping up to be pretty good for him as well.
What else has happened? Here's the rundown...
I've been taking a boxing class for the last few months on Saturday mornings and I absolutely love it. It's my regular fun-time activity and it is so different from school it's a good stress reliever.
My friend Voyageur has been diagnosed with leukemia. That's been really rough for me to deal with especially because it's part of the curriculum we've been covering in school right now. I love that guy so much that it's really hard to know the statistics but I know that he's a fighter and I can't wait to see him this month.
And one of the most major parts of my life in the last few months and one of the happiest moments in my life is that my roomie Methos and his girlfriend Canoegirl got married!!! Even though there was some nerves in the morning (Don't talk about it, I'm going to throw up!) and a crazy plague that ran through our girlfriends like a monsoon it was a perfect day of love, friendship and commitment. To see the two of them get to this place in thier relationship after everything that's happened in the past couple of years was such a beautiful thing to be a part of. And I was so honored to be a part of their day together, even though I was a CRYING MESS from pretty much start to finish (note: I did not cry at my own wedding) I was just so happy to see them together and to stand there in support of their love for each other.
There's more I want to say about this but I need to go study soooo tune in for more news about the Methos and Canoegirl wedding, my own wedding (sometime I'll get around to posting about that) and about life in 2005.
