Sickness in its Many Forms in Apartment 305
Written @ 8:53 p.m. on 2003-11-04

Well it’s official that there is not one of the four of us that has survived the insidious sickness that has pervaded our tiny apartment. I’m blaming it on the recent temperature drop but Bear, Canoegirl, Foreman, and to a lesser extent, me have all had a bout with being less than healthy. I, however, have gotten off easy with only one evening of “really bad” where I was worried that I was having a malaria relapse. Bear, Canoegirl and Foreman have not been as lucky getting this “144 hour flu” of aches, headaches and high fever. And being that I am pretty much healthy now I feel like I’m in a ticking time bomb that could explode any minute making me sick just in time for my massive Anatomy midterm on Thursday morning (7:30am is too early for an exam).

I have to admit I’ve lived with Bear and Canoegirl for quite some time now so I’m sort of used to them getting sick (not that I like it but I’m used to it). But Foreman hasn’t been sick since we started dating so this has been an interesting experience. Note: I’m excluding the time he puked all night after he said I love you to me for the first time and then my roommate had to take him to the hospital in the morning because that was the fault of Subway and no fault of my own or his love for me (at least I’m telling myself that). So, yeah HE has taken care of ME when I’ve been sick – the pinnacle being when I had malaria in Zambia in August and he finally MADE me go see the doctor (thank goodness!) and then took care of me for the 6 days I was recuperating. But I have never really taken care of him before when he’s sick so that was different. Good, but different. It’s nice to have someone take care of you and for you to be able to take care of them. When you’re sick and have completely let your guard down and are at your absolute worst and you love each other just as much. That’s a beautiful feeling.
