Superstar of the Morris Family Shaker
Written @ 5:16 p.m. on 2004-01-19

On Saturday my brain took a vacation from the rest of my body. Foreman and I went to the most recent family party for Go and Polish Princess’ housewarming and I decided to celebrate with great gusto.

The first mistake was that I decided that if I drank faster than Foreman I wouldn’t have to drive. Do not race an Irishman to the liquor at a party – it will only lead to places you probably should not go.

The second mistake – do not let your boyfriend’s brother mix your drinks. Especially when he is already drunk and his name is Moreass. I believe that the Coke in my drink was just for color.

Things went consistently downhill from there. Here are some of the highlights:

Someone spilt a beer on the kitchen counter and I was determined to not permit alcohol abuse by letting a drop touch the ground so I put my mouth over the corner of the counter so that I would catch any drops in my mouth instead of let it hit the ground. I think there’s a picture of that.

I had multiple conversations with Foreman’s dad, a number of which I believe I hung off him while I put my arm around him. I also remember discussing the Foreman children with Foreman’s dad, Leprechaun using an empty paper towel roll, a mickey and an empty beer can to represent the three children. Later, when I was telling someone else they should drink water Leprechaun said “How could they possibly, you’ve drank all the water in the house”. Yeah, it’s good that I made such a great impression on Foreman’s dad. I hear he thinks I’m funny though so that’s hopeful.

I kept running into the dining room chandelier ( I was not alone in this) but there was one specific time when I talked to Sue on the phone (I have NO idea what we talked about) and then said to Shane something about him approving of his sister’s dates (but I said it was good he was “improving” not “approving” – I don’t remember ANY of this, Keith told me afterwards). Then I spilt half my water on Shane and then got up and hit the chandelier again.

There are many more examples but I can’t really remember anything else. Here’s a good all-around example of my night: I woke up with a black plastic cow tied into my hair and I don’t have a clue how it got there. Yeah, oh and Sheila (basically Foreman’ aunt) said that Jenny was the star of the last party and I was the star of this one. I’m so proud.

There were good things though: the best was getting to have a great talk with Sumo – Foreman’s sister who I’ve been slightly afraid of. She kept talking about how much she loved me and we just had a really awesome talk. It was really great. We also played some Irish jigs and “Danny Boy” and warmed the house up right. I’m sure there will be many more shakers now that there’s one more Morris house in the Sherwood forest. But I’m going to try to maybe bring on the water a little earlier than I did last Saturday. I’m a superstar!
